Disability & Functional Assessments

Psychological assessments are often needed for purposes beyond clinical treatment - to document how a disability or condition affects daily life, to support access to funding and services, or to provide information for insurance processes.

We provide disability and functional assessments for individuals across the Northern Rivers and via Telehealth.

Types of assessment

  • Functional capacity assessments - evaluating how a disability or condition affects everyday activities such as self-care, communication, social participation and work

  • NDIS-related psychological assessments - providing evidence of functional impact to support access requests, plan reviews or changes to support levels

  • Cognitive and adaptive behaviour assessments - relevant for intellectual disability, acquired brain injury and similar difficulties

  • Psychological functioning assessments - documenting the nature and impact of psychological conditions for WorkCover, Motor Accident Scheme, insurance or legal purposes

Who these assessments are for

  • People applying for NDIS access or requesting a plan review

  • Individuals with acquired brain injury needing documentation of functional change

  • People with autism, ADHD or other developmental conditions needing formal assessment

  • People involved in WorkCover or Motor Accident Scheme claims

  • Individuals referred by treating practitioners or insurance case managers

Reports and coordination

Assessment reports are tailored to their purpose and audience. We work with GPs, occupational therapists, support coordinators and other practitioners to make sure assessments fit into broader care planning.
